Steve Lukather’s new equipment can be summed up as being a lot more organic to what he’s used in the past. Lukather stated that as his lifestyle became more organic, he wanted his gear to follow suit. One notable change is the DiMarzio Transition pickups in the new Luke III model, as opposed to EMG pickups in the Luke II. He now also plugs directly into a Bogner amp.
Lukather has stated that he will continue to use the Luke II model, and doesn’t necessary prefer the Luke III over this model. He now uses strictly pedals only, in a rig assembled for him by Bob Bradshaw and Custom Audio Electronics.
