About the Editor

Hi, my name is Dean Hailstone and I’ve been a guitar player for most of my life! My early inspirations came from soaring guitar solos that originated from the likes of Gary Moore and other great players.

I played my first live gig at the age of 17. Since then I have always had a passion for playing live. I’ve always felt that it’s a waste to sit and practice if nobody’s going to hear you. It’s important for the public to hear your playing, and there’s no better place for that than in front of a live audience. Rory Gallagher said it best: “You have to direct your playing somewhere – unless you want to sit in a room like a painter who won’t show his paintings to anybody“.

To date I’ve performed hundreds of gigs with dozens of bands and have played with some of the countries top musicians. I’ve also featured on various studio recordings for other artists. I’m currently working as a freelance musician, playing with numerous different live acts.

Through the years of performing live I’ve learned many things that I’m able to share on this website. Since there is no real valuable online resource for guitarists that enjoy playing live, I decided to develop a website that can cater for this passion. This site contains information about playing guitar live on stage as well as other related topics. It’s still a constantly developing project and is yet to see completion.
