Check Out the 9V Backpack External Power Adapter

A recent release that I found quite intriguing is the 9V Backpack from ZÜE Engineering. This gizmo essentially allows you to connect an external 9V battery to an effects pedal.

I can see this being handy for situations when it may be a hassle to open up the pedal to get to the battery compartment. For example, you may experience ground noise at a gig, or have issues with the internal battery compartment. It can also be great for testing multiple pedals with a single battery.

Personally I don’t have much use for the 9V Backpack. I use a single power supply to power my entire pedalboard. Some of my effects, specifically chorus and delay, will consume a 9V battery in a matter of minutes, so wall power is really the only way to go. With that being said, should one of my pedals give issues at a gig, it will certainly help to have the 9V backpack on hand.

I do know musicians who use strictly batteries only, so this may be quite interesting for them. Is this something you would use? Let us know in the comments below.
