This Invisible Wah Pedal Is Great for Live Performances

If you’re a performing guitarist that doesn’t like the idea of being limited to one spot on the stage, then the Ghost Pedal may be just what you’re looking for.

The innovation developed by a group of students from Purdue University School of Mechanical Engineering, was aimed at giving guitar players more freedom while performing live.

It works by attaching a small wireless transmitter to your ankle. The device contains sensors that will essentially allow you to control an invisible wah pedal.

I can personally see this being very useful if it can be adapted to switch from clean to distortion, which in my opinion is probably the most common change most guitar players will be making. Personally I don’t mind returning to my pedal board for a wah effect, due to the fact that I use it so rarely. The team has, however, stated that they do have plans to adapt the virtual pedal to control other effects.

While no further insight on this project is currently available, we can hope to see this gadget on the shelves in the near future. For more information check out http://otc-prf.org/news/purdue-students-device-creates-guitar-wah-effect-without-physical-pedal
