The Cheapest Gigging Amplifiers for 2016

When it comes to guitar amplifiers, there are tons of options to choose from. At the end of the day, it comes down to your specific needs and how you want to use the gear. When you’re playing live, you need to take in to consideration that (in most cases) you’ll be playing with a drummer and therefore need to be loud enough to hear yourself above the drum kit. In some instances you may even want a little projection just in case the PA lacks power or isn’t there at all. Taking this into consideration, we will be focusing on amplifiers that provide enough power and are at least 20 watts. The amps below are the most popular and best-sellers for the intended purpose.

Orange Micro Terror ($150)

Blackstar ID30 with Effects ($350)

Fender Blues Junior III ($530)
Fender Hot Rod Deluxe III ($730)

So far I’ve listed the amps I believe offer the most value for the best price, and also rank well in terms of popularity and user ratings. This list, however, is not complete and is a work in progress. If there’s something missing from this list that you believe deserves a spot, please let us know in the comments below!
